ﾊﾞｲﾌﾞﾙｸﾗｽが行われました

Bible class on Saturday, 6^th September , 2014

 

9月を迎えましたが、今日も気温は30度を超え大変に蒸し暑い一日でした。今日のﾊﾞｲﾌﾞﾙｸﾗｽには他教会からの常連メンバーの参加もあり、総勢5名でマタイによる福音書16章13節以下を学びました。

この箇所（イエスの一番弟子ペテロの信仰告白、他）によって、イエスが何者であるかが明らかになると同時に、今日の教会に繋がる世界の教会の起源を定め、神の国と地上を繋ぐという、本質的な教会の使命をイエスご自身が語った、きわめて重要なメッセージの箇所であるという思いを強くしました。

また、なぜイエスはあのおっちょこちょいで軟弱なペテロに、その性格とは真逆の名（かたい岩）と共に信仰の歴史上の大役をお与えになったのか、そこには深い意味と遠大なご計画があることを思わずにはいられません。

Son
of Man, Son of God

13 When Jesus arrived in the villages of Caesarea Philippi, he
asked his disciples, "What are people saying about who the Son of Man is?"

14 They replied, "Some think he is John the Baptizer, some say
Elijah, some Jeremiah or one of the other prophets."

15 He pressed them, "And how about you? Who do you say I am?"

16 Simon Peter said, "You're the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of
the living God."

17-18 Jesus came back, "God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You
didn't get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God
himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I'm going to
tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on
which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not
even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.

19 "And that's not all. You will have complete and free access to
God's kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven
and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is
no in heaven."

20 He swore the disciples to secrecy. He made them promise they
would tell no one that he was the Messiah.

 

イエスの質問に対して「神の子、救い主」と信仰告白したシモン（ペテロ）に、イエスはシモンの告白は「人から教えられたものでもなく、また聖書（旧約聖書）から学んだものでもなく、天の父なる神から来たものである。」と云って、シモン（ペテロ）を大いに祝福し、さらに"岩"という意味のペテロという名を彼に与えます。

しかし、たびたび聖書に登場する現実のペテロは、福音書や使徒行伝、またパウロの書簡においても、およそ岩と評せられるような意志強固なキャラクターではありません。むしろ軟弱で軽率な人物として描かれています。当然ペテロの師であるイエスは、ペテロの性格や力量は十分に解っている上で、あえて岩、ペテロという名を彼に与えたのだと推測します。その上で、ペテロに初代教会の初代リーダーという歴史的な大役を与えることになります。

イエスのペテロへの思い、狙いはなんでしょか？

その後、一時は自らの保身のためにイエスを拒みながらも、復活のイエスと会って以降、ペテロは徐々にNo1使徒として初代教会の重鎮に変えられていきました。そして今日にいたるもシモン・ペテロという名と彼の生き様は、聖書の中に、そして私たちの信仰の中に大いに用いられ、大活躍しています。

 

You're
Not in the Driver's Seat

21-22 Then Jesus made it clear to his disciples that it was now
necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, submit to an ordeal of suffering at the
hands of the religious leaders, be killed, and then on the third day be raised
up alive. Peter took him in hand, protesting, "Impossible, Master! That can
never be!"

23 But Jesus didn't swerve. "Peter, get out of my way. Satan, get
lost. You have no idea how God works."

24-26 Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. "Anyone who
intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat;
I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how.
Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding
yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want
but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

27-28 "Don't be in such a hurry to go into business for yourself.
Before you know it the Son of Man will arrive with all the splendor of his
Father, accompanied by an army of angels. You'll get everything you have coming
to you, a personal gift. This isn't pie in the sky by and by. Some of you
standing here are going to see it take place, see the Son of Man in kingdom
glory."

 

この箇所では、ペテロはイエスを諌めるために連れだす場面があります。その時イエスは即座に、「悪魔よ退け！」とペテロを一括します。前の箇所でペテロを地上にあるすべての教会の祖として称賛した直後だけに非常に対照的です。

 

この16章最後のパートの小見出し"You're not
in the driver's seat"と文中のフレーズが非常にユニークです。

少々飛んでる訳ですが、「あなたが主役（舵取り役・リーダー）ではない！」。

また同様の今風な英語では、似たような言い回しで、"backseat
driver"というのもあります。こちらは「頼みもしない忠告を口出しする奴」だそうです。
